Off to Plamondon, AB!
Join me on a 4-night artistic journey as I travel 2.5 hours north from Edmonton to Plamondon, Alberta, to teach art as part of a special request from Galerie Cava, a French art gallery.
This unique opportunity allows me to bring art into this small but vibrant community, where I’ll be working with both youth and adults. I'm thrilled to share my passion for painting and creativity with others, and I'm especially excited to show a youth group how to paint a chickadee bird using a variety of mediums. I will also be teaching a group of adults how to create a lush green landscape, featuring a river, waterfalls, and foliage.
Plamondon has a rich French heritage, with roots that date back to the arrival of French settlers. The town, which is located in the heart of Alberta’s French-speaking communities, remains a place where French culture and language continue to thrive.
As an artist, it's incredibly important to me to reach out to small communities like Plamondon, where artistic opportunities may be fewer and far between. Bringing art into these spaces not only helps to inspire others but also fosters creativity in a way that is meaningful and lasting. It’s during these cold winter months, when we’re often huddled inside, that the act of creating becomes even more important
—it’s a way to stay warm, stay engaged, and stay connected.
While the drive is long and can be a bit daunting in these frigid temperatures, I am so grateful this program exists, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. Some of the wonderful people from Galerie Cava will be joining me, as well as other artists who will be hosting different workshops throughout the journey.
