Urban Coyote Project
The 2022 Urban Coyote Intervention Program helps volunteers from targeted Edmonton neighbourhoods in making their communities safer for coyotes and people.
With the help of 76 volunteers in 28 neighbourhoods, we conducted a pilot season between February and May 2021. Here is an interim report of our results. If you would like to participate in the second season of this study in winter 2022, please visit: https://urbancoyoteinterventionprogram.weebly.com
I will be helping with this project and have also put a call for artists to submit art work on the urban coyote. I think art can help raise awareness on the importance of these animals and this project can help people and coyotes coexist.
There are several benefits of keeping coyotes around, one of then being that they eat unwanted rodents, but it is important that they do not get used to getting too close to people as they can easily be a danger too.
