“Is Art important for Athletes?”
SoccArt is a unique day camp where I hosted an art workshop for young soccer players.
It is a workshop that was made possible at Galerie CAVA in partnership with Edmonton Fusion.
It aimed to connect the mind and active body of young athletes to different art forms: Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Musical Arts, Literary Arts, and Traditional Arts
I learned that active youth benefit from calming activities that encourage creativity, helping reduce anxiety related to homework and other tasks. Art fosters patience and motor skills, improving overall performance. I organized a workshop where kids designed their own soccer jerseys, working individually and as a team to create designs they were proud of. Over time, their energy became calmer, and they learned to listen and understand that making things takes time. This experience also helped me think about how to connect my studio hours with my exercises for better physical health.
