What I choose to paint with and why:

  • I paint to capture the atmosphere, mood, and energy of light, movement, and depth. To do so, I choose the medium that best fits the moment and the emotional tone I want to convey. Whether it’s watercolors, acrylics, or oils, I work with whatever feels right and is most accessible at the time. My choice of surface—whether paper, board, or canvas—depends on the mood of the piece and the stage of the imagined scene in my mind.

For example, when experimenting with technique or composition, I often turn to watercolors or acrylics, particularly in smaller formats. These mediums dry quickly and are ideal for capturing the spontaneity of initial ideas on a more intimate scale. On the other hand, when working on larger pieces, I prefer oils. The slower drying time allows me to refine my vision over time, while the longevity of oils ensures the painting will stand the test of years. Oils also offer a richness and texture that other mediums can’t quite match, making them perfect for larger works that demand a sense of depth and tactile presence.

Ultimately, the medium and scale are dictated by the energy of the piece and the experience I’m trying to evoke.

  • In this collection, I’m not seeking suggestions because my goal isn’t to recreate the specific memories you may have of these places. Instead, I aim to capture a scene that resonates with your own experiences, evoking a sense of nostalgia or stirring a desire to explore these areas if you haven’t already. My intention is not to simply please, but to inspire a deeper connection—whether through familiar memories or the curiosity to discover something new.
